I purchased Ketocip 2% Ketoconazole Anti-Dandruff Shampoo from Amazon after researching the best anti-dandruff shampoos in India and reading several recommendations, including ChatGPT's suggestions. I had previously used Selsun (selenium sulfide shampoo), so I had a good benchmark for comparison.
After using Ketocip for about a month, I can confidently say that it is one of the most effective medicated shampoos for dandruff I've tried. It significantly reduced my stubborn dandruff, scalp flakes, itchy scalp, and scalp irritation within just a few washes. If you're dealing with persistent dandruff that doesn't improve with regular cosmetic shampoos, this product is definitely worth trying.
Compared to Selsun, however, I found Ketocip to be a bit harsher on my scalp. While it does an excellent job of controlling dandruff, it also made my scalp feel noticeably drier. If you already have dry scalp or dry hair, I would recommend alternating it with a mild moisturizing shampoo and using a conditioner only on the hair lengths—not on the scalp.
Many people buy this expecting it to stop hair fall, but it's important to understand that Ketocip is primarily an antifungal shampoo. It won't treat genetic hair loss or male pattern baldness, but it can help reduce hair fall caused by dandruff, scalp inflammation, fungal overgrowth, and seborrheic dermatitis. Once the scalp becomes healthier, excessive shedding related to these conditions often improves.
This shampoo contains Ketoconazole 2%, a clinically proven antifungal ingredient that targets the Malassezia yeast, one of the major causes of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis.
Conditions where Ketocip 2% may help
- Persistent or chronic dandruff
- Severe dandruff with visible white flakes
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Itchy scalp and inflamed scalp
- Oily scalp with excessive flaking
- Fungal scalp infections (when prescribed by a doctor)
- Hair shedding associated with dandruff and scalp inflammation
How to use for the best results
- Wet your hair and scalp thoroughly.
- Apply the shampoo directly to the scalp, focusing on affected areas.
- Massage gently to create a rich lather.
- Leave it on for 3–5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. This contact time is essential for the medication to work effectively.
- Use twice a week for 4 weeks, then once every 1–2 weeks as maintenance, or follow your dermatologist's advice.
- Avoid contact with the eyes and discontinue use if severe irritation occurs.
Overall, I think Ketocip 2% Ketoconazole Shampoo is one of the best medicated shampoos for dandruff, itchy scalp, and seborrheic dermatitis available in India. I deducted one star only because it dried my scalp more than Selsun, which I personally found slightly gentler. If your priority is fast dandruff control and long-lasting relief from scalp flakes and itching, Ketocip is an excellent choice and offers great value for money.
